Dearest BSD Spring Fling Writer,

Hello, I hope this letter finds you well. First, I want to say thank you for taking the time to write for me. I think it’s incredible that someone could and would use their time and energy to take a complete stranger’s ideas and transform them into something real. It’s truly amazing. No matter what you choose to create, I am sure I will love and cherish it. Please feel free to use this letter as a very, very general guideline, and know that there’s absolutely no need to take it too seriously. I cannot wait to see what you come up with!

If you catch me on any odd day, there’s a fair chance I am crying over/about my garbage favorites. But this is the first instance I've attempted to arrange my thoughts into some semblance of organization (it’ll likely still be a mess). I adore deeply flawed and despicable characters. I like exploring the darker sides of human nature. Give me characters that are selfish, angry, bitter, vicious, and scheming. That are liars and morally-questionable. That would see the whole world turn to ash because they hate so intensely. Et cetera. Likewise, with my favorite pairings, I am fascinated by the inherent wrongness of certain dynamics. Unhealthy, maladjusted people that tear into each other. For whom love is scary and not always soft or sweet but rather like a mouthful of sharp teeth and sharper words. Deeply fucked-up codependency is my jam, too.

On the opposite side of the coin, I am very weak for intimacy and tenderness, and I possess a loyalty kink approximately fifty kilometers long. Characters who have been through so much together, and are still utterly devoted to one another. That are fiercely protective and would sacrifice anything and everything. Fragile vulnerability: distrustful characters learning to trust, and choosing to let go of control despite how uneasy it all is. Let me drown in it. I want it. Touch-starved characters that unravel beneath each others’ hands. Friendships between characters with common ground and similar backgrounds, and they help each other. As much as I appreciate my fictional favs being unapologetically awful, I equally enjoy watching them become better people. I’m honestly not opposed to fluff where it makes sense (if that even makes sense).

I unironically love the mentor/protégé trope, and DaAku is no exception to this rule. Frankly, I think they’re terrible together. Dazai did some pretty atrocious things while he was in the Port Mafia, and Akutagawa ends up on the receiving end of a lot of it. But he isn’t entirely guileless either. I view their entanglement as being wrought with emotional manipulation and possessiveness, which they are both, on some level, aware isn’t good. But neither of them knows how to escape it. Whether past or present, I think they have a lot of hurt to work through. Likewise, a threesome between them and Atsushi would be in a similar vein, but with an emphasis on how differently Dazai treats and interacts with Atsushi compared to Akutagawa. I think Akutagawa and Atsushi would feel a great deal of jealousy and competitiveness towards their counterpart due to the nature in which they were introduced by Dazai painting them as rivals.

I pretty much enjoy all renditions of Soukoku, but my absolute biggest guilty pleasure is awful Mafia SKK, and that blurry line between love and hate. I like them sharp. I like them being monsters wearing vaguely human skin. But I'm also fond of them being soft as well.

I love the aesthetics of FyoZai as a pairing. They have such a natural affinity for one another. Chess. Puppets. Wordplay. Master manipulators. The entire cat-and-mouse thing. I think they are both highly intelligent and capable of extreme ruthlessness. The potential for sexual tension simply can’t be ignored either. Plus, their abilities? They're a near perfect match.

Lastly, I think Kyouka makes a good foil for Dazai. Both their pasts are stained in blood, yet they have both found themselves on the side of good. They're both actively choosing to be good. I am very intrigued by how the two may feel about each other, and would love to see more fics that address that premise.

And of course, I’m down for smut and can easily be persuaded to most kinks.
